For years together it is believed that the average age of human being is 60 years.
But a study in 2000 reveals that around 69 million people all over world formed the oldest old.
Among them 7.8 million are in their 90s and around 2 lacs people are in their 100s.
A UN report says that in 1998, there were 1.3 million centenarians in the world, less than a decade or so these numbers has increased drastically.
As a result India itself has 1.5 million centenarians by 2000 provided by a helpage report.
Another projection reveals by 2050 the worlds share of centenarians may reach 3.3 million led by China, India, US & Japan.
Statistics also prove that half of the world oldest old lives in China, japan, US, India, Germany & Russia.
